I have bachelors and masters degree in Graphic Design. Over the seven I trained academically to receive these two degrees I used mac products extensively and had never touched a windows product. Well, from my years of experience with Windows products, they were garbage. My dad had always owned windows computers and he was constantly buying a new $400 laptop every 3 years. However my first mac lasted 8 years. For me, the proof was in the pudding.

My macs outlasted my Dad’s junky windows systems, so why would I ever buy a windows? Plus, my computer is way way way cooler. Yes every single time I would talk down to my Dad’s windows operating system machine I would be comparing my $1000 Macbook (Purchased in 2008) to his $400 Dell something or other, I was comparing Apples to Oranges. Quite foolish of me. So why did I perceive my Apple computer better than my Dad’s Dell when there is no reasonable comparison.

I had a lack of true perspective and expertise on the situation, that is until I walked onto the my first big design Job 2 years ago and was placed behind a windows operating system and almost lost my mind. I thought, are you serious has the world just stopped spinning?

How will I be able to design anything on this computer, don’t they know that graphic designers use Mac computers. It is impossible to develop anything creative on a windows! But over the next few months I realized that this windows was fantastic. A few new keyboard shortcuts to learn and function but I have found that when bouncing back and forth between my Macbook Pro 15in and my Dell (Windows) T3600 I barely notice any difference, in fact the Dell is faster! You see it is all about how the operating system is setup. I am going to break this down super simply! Mac: Mac’s operating system is a tightly designed machine meaning that all the components have been designed and optimized to work together. This allows the process to run smoothly without any user interaction during the lifetime of the system. But this costs more because the manufactures of the components are holding the iron fist on production because the don’t want any alterations to their components. This is why Macs cost more! WHY?You see, every time an update or revision come out for any of those different components the system stores the update in its memory.
