Scanning Software For Mac Hp Officejet Pro 6978

I upgraded my iMac to Sierra and found fax modem support was removed and I need to send and receive faxes for personal and business use. After almost a day of research, I went to Office Depot and bought my Officejet Pro 6978. It works great for faxing (other than an issue with pedantic software that isn't smart enough to handle address book entries), even storing incoming faxes in a folder instead of printing them out. Printing is no problem at all. This tells me the connections are good. The computer can send data for printing and for faxing. The printer can send data to the computer when it receives a fax and it's stored in a.tiff file on my computer, in the specified folder.
The HP OfficeJet Pro 6978 Driver and Full Feature Software are available to download on this website at the link below this reviews. In addition, the HP OfficeJet Pro 6978 Wireless All-In-One Instant Ink Ready Printer come with full black design that offers print fast, reliable printing, scanning and copying to your workgroup with more feature of all-in-one printer.
But scanning - it won't work at all. I turned off the printer and rebooted my computer and tried again.
I reset my printing system and reinstalled my other printer plus the Officejet. When I press 'Scan' on the printer, it tries, then reports it can't scan - but it does give me an error warning on the computer, so I know they are talking.
When I go to the printer's web server to check out scanning, I get this: I have, in the HP Utility program, though, specified 'Scan to Computer:' Whenever I run Easy Scan, I get this, without any way to get a clear explanation of what the error is: If I try to scan anything, I get this, with the same number every time (but I can't find a reference to what the error numbers mean): So there appears to be no issue with the printer and computer talking to each other in printing and faxing modes. They are able to communicate enough to specify there is a problem with scanning and the printer's web server says scanning is not configured, even though I've enabled 'scan to my computer.' I've tried using Preview or clicking 'Scan' from the Printer applet in the Settings app, and I get errors. I've tried a third party app - it just tells me it can't communicate with the scanner.
If there are any command line utilities I can use that will give me a verbose report on any errors encountered, I'd be glad to use them. How can I get this to work? I enabled Webscan. I didn't realize that was a different service from the regular scanning, I thought I was dealing with a web based way to control the preferences. Once I got it enabled and rebooted the printer (is there a better way to reboot than unplugging and plugging it back in after 20 seconds or so?), I tried Webscan and specified to create a PDF file.
It opened a new browser tab, started scanning, but when the PDF reader appeared within the tab, it told me there was no PDF file. I tried it again specifying a TIFF image and it worked, however that was just one page.
Launchctl load -w uk.co.29ways.outlook-cleanup.plist. Once loaded I tested the script using. Launchctl start uk.co.29ways.outlook-cleanup. To tell if the script ran correctly, I used. I will be trying it with the document feeder, with multiple pages, but it'd be great if I could get it to output PDF easily. I have been using Easy Scan - or I thought I was. Isn't that the program in my last two screenshots, including the error message? The wordpress.com desktop app is not available for mac users?. Clearly, now, scanning works, since I can use Webscan. Is there some way I can specify a different protocol for the printer or something like that so Easy Scan or other programs can interface with the printer the same way the Webscan works? I tried that. It's the only scanner I have, so it's the only one on the list.
Clicking it doesn't change a thing and it looks like the program realizes it's the same scanner and doens't re-initialize it. Even in scan logs I don't find any information worth noting. I do find I can scan now with webscan, and when I press the Scan button on the printer, the computer tells me there's an error almost right away.

The printer takes longer to determine it can't scan to the computer. This tells me the scanning program/hardware can communicate with external sources and that there is SOME kind of communication between the scanner and computer, but that the scanner and computer are not able to exchange all the data they need. I'm thinking, more and more, that even though HP says this works with Sierra, that the scanner simply does not.
Hi, The scanner do work with Sierra, I personally use the exact same model with 10.12 with no issues. Try performing a full restart cycle if you use a network connection, meaning unplug your router for few seconds, allow it approx. 3 minutes to start till you can access the internet again. Next reboot both the Mac and the printer, then try scanning via HP Easy Scan again, be sure to click Browse Scanners to ensure the scanner connection is refreshed. If there is still no change ensure you have the latest firmware updates installed and try again: If the same persists uninstall any installed HP Easy Scan or HP Scan applciation from the Applications folder by moving it to trash and then empty the trash.
