Neither Cisdem nor Data Recovery 4 could even read the disk. Nor could they write to the disk. I tried multiple times and multiple reboots and every little trick. They would freeze or just crash my entire computer. So then I break out Disk Warrior 5 to repair the disk filesystem in the hopes that Cisdem or Data Recovery 4 might then be able to do their magic.
